Women Non-Slap Shot League

Get ready for another great summer of women’s hockey at Leaside Arena. For 2026, Hockey Extreme’s Senior Adult Women’s Summer League will feature two clearly defined divisions, giving players the opportunity to compete at a pace that best matches their experience, skill level, comfort and still keeping the game fun, respectful, and competitive.

Season Overview

• Dates: May 19 to August 11, 2026

• Location: Leaside Memorial Gardens Arena (new ice pad)

• Format: Two divisions, 4 teams per division

• Games: 13 games

• Game Nights: Tuesdays (we will balance the schedule so teams rotate through time slots evenly)

  • 7:15 pm | 8:15 pm | 9:15 pm | 10:15 pm

League Divisions

Returning players from last season may be approved to move up a division following an individual review. All new skaters must meet age requirements to maintain consistency and balance Except goalies - see below). With our new structure, teams will be formed and hopefully parity within each division.

30+ Division – Competitive Recreation

A faster-paced, higher-tempo recreational division for strong skaters who enjoy a more competitive game. Best for players who:

• Are comfortable with speed and pace

• Have solid skating and game awareness

• Want competitive but respectful play

• Span a wide age range (30s to 60s+) but prefer higher intensity

Master Recreation Division (45+ / 40+ by approval)

Focused on safety, balance, well-being, camaraderie, and pure joy on the ice with friends. Best for players who:

• Prefer a slightly slower, safer pace

• Are returning from injury or time away from hockey

• Want fun games without excessive speed or physicality

• Are 45+, or 40+ with league approval

Why Two Divisions?

As the league continues to grow, the player age range and experience level have expanded. The two-division structure ensures:

• Safer play

• Better competitive balance

• More enjoyable games for everyone

• Long term participation

• Continued growth at Leaside Arena

This format will be reviewed after the season and adjusted as needed.

Player Eligibility & Placement

• All new skaters must meet the age requirement for their division

• Returning players may be reviewed individually and approved to move up if close to the age cutoff and it supports league balance

• The league will assist individuals and small groups to help everyone find a place to play.

• Goalies are exempt from age restrictions due to positional needs, but must match the skill level of the division.

Not permitted:

• Senior A / AA players

• Current or recently graduated university players

• Brand-new skaters

The goal is balanced teams, similar skill levels, and great games every week. The league reserves the right to remove players whose skill level or conduct is not aligned with league values.

League Management & Safety

A dedicated Hockey Extreme Convener will be on site every night to:

• Use LiveBarn to monitor gameplay and safety

• Enforce code of ethics and fair play

• Work with referees and players

• Ensure games run smoothly and everyone has a great experience

Refund Policy for Individual Registrations

Refunds are issued only if the league cannot operate due to arena or government shutdowns. If a player withdraws, the league will attempt to sell the spot. If successful, a refund will be issued minus a $50 administration fee.

Registration & Pricing

Individual Registration

$525 (HST included) - Goalies play free

• Register as an individual (waitlist initially)

• Request friends during registration — we do our best to keep friends on the same team

• Teams formed with 13 skaters + 1 goalie

Important Dates

• Feb 8, 2026: Registration opens (Waitlist Only for Individuals)

• Feb 22, 2026: Team numbers finalized (we take teams first)

• Feb 23, 2026: Invitations sent to waitlist players (every season we build one team from individual entries)

• 24 Hours: Invited individual players have 24 hours to accept, complete registration and pay in full

Team Registration

$5,495 (HST included)

• Non-refundable deposit: $750

• March 6 invoice: $3,745

• Game 1 cash due: $1,000
